Questions about this matcha — inquire by email. We reply within two business days.
Four centuries ago, matcha reached a height it has rarely met since — grown where land, altitude, mist and light happened to meet. We did not go looking to reproduce a famous name. We went looking for where those conditions live today.
We found them gathered again in the volcanic highlands of Kirishima: mineral-rich earth, deep mist that softens the light, and the wide swing between warm days and cool nights that lets sweetness and aroma settle slowly into the leaf.
In the maker’s own words: a fresh, lively sweetness, like a spring breeze — grown with care, milled with care, for a cup on a special day.
Nishi Tea Factory has grown tea in Kirishima since 1954, farmed without synthetic pesticides since 1994, and finished its own tencha since 2005.
Kiri no Shiro is the tin the Nishi family sells under their own name in Japan, milled from the tencha they select as their finest — a blend of four cultivars: Saemidori, Asahi, Kirari and Okumidori.
Whisk 1.5–2 g with 60–70 ml of water at about 75 °C. It is milled for usucha — and matcha only really comes alive when it is whisked in a chawan.
A 30 g (1.05 oz) sealed tin in its original box, with an English panel on the tin — the Japanese label stays as it is — and a card from CHAWAN ROOM.
Keep the tin sealed, cool, and away from light. Once opened, use it within a few weeks and keep it closed.
Ships from Tokyo by Japan Post, with tracking, usually within 1–2 weeks of payment — each parcel is filed with U.S. FDA Prior Notice before it leaves Japan.
United States only. Delivery usually takes 1–3 weeks. No duties due on arrival.
Food is not returnable once opened. If your tin arrives damaged, send us a photo within 7 days and we will replace or refund it.
